Adverse impact of counterfeits is hot topic at the 2019 IACC Conference

Celebrating its 40th year, the International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition (IACC), held its 2019 Annual Spring Conference between 15th – 17th May at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel. And what a celebration it was; the largest and most well attended conference in its history!

There was an abundance of brilliant discussions during panel sessions, workshops and round tables covering the evolution of brand protection and emerging online trends which supported this year’s them of ‘Welcome to the revolution: Fighting fakes in the 21st Century’.

In a recent interview with NBC News, IACC President, Bob Barchiesi said “Counterfeiting is not a victimless crime. A lot of jobs are lost because of it and taxes aren’t being paid. There’s forced labor involved and organized crime behind a lot of this. And there’s also information that counterfeiting supports terrorist operations.” During the IACC conference, keynote speaker, National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center (IPR Center), Steve Francis, made a similar observation stating “We need to talk about the adverse impact of counterfeits".

This is something Yellow Brand Protection feel strongly about and is why we have launched the #ImForReal initiative at the IACC Annual Spring Conference. It was great to talk with so many delegates during the conference who also felt passionate about supporting the campaign.
